Charles G. Roland retired as the Jason A. Hannah Chair for the History of Medicine at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He is the author of many books and articles, including the award winning ‘Courage Under Siege’, ‘Starvation, Disease, and Death in the Warsaw Ghetto’ (Oxford University Press, 1992) and ‘Long Night’s Journey Into Day’ ‘Prisoners of War in Hong Kong and Japan, 1941-1945’.
