Kenneth was a ‘kreta’, in that he was processed on Crete and received a Kriegsgefangenenlager Kreta POW number. He was shipped off Crete around 4/1/42 and arrived at Stalag VIIIB on 20/1/42. During his ‘stay’ on Crete he briefly escaped, but was primarily incarcerated at the Chania camp.
He notes in a repatriation questionnaire that de-lousing made him very sick. Just 10 days after his arrival at Stalag VIIIB 3 men died of cyanide poisoning during the same process.
