Rifleman Arthur Abel Broad
I am writing to tell you that my uncle, Arthur Abel Broad, was a prisoner of war at this Camp. I think I have got the right one. I have found an entry on Ancestry as below:
Name: | A A Broad |
Rank: | Rifleman |
Army Number: | |
Regiment: | Kings Royal Rifle Corps |
POW Number: | 23891 |
Camp Type: | Stalag |
Camp Number: | 344 E363* |
Camp Location: | Lambinowice, Poland |
Record Office: | Rifle Corps Record Office, Winchester |
Record Office Number: | 24 |
*Working party E363 was located at Ratiborhammer in Poland, now known as Kuźnia Raciborska. The main industry in this town was the Schondorff-Hegenscheidt factory making aircraft parts.
He was born on 26 October 1914 and died on 4 January 2003 in Enfield, Middlesex, England.
I have some documents relating to him, including the Soldier’s Release Book. I also have a photo of him together with two other prisoners, names unknown. He is the man in the middle with the parting in the middle of his hair – a style he still had when he died.
