I have searched your site for a record of my father who I think was a prisoner in Lamsdorf. His army record states that he was in this camp however when I search Stalag VIIIB it comes up as Teschen. One web site I looked at said that they were part of the same camp. I have therefore enclosed his details for possible inclusion on the web site.

His name was Ambrose Melson Broughton and his nickname was Darkie.

His POW number was 43913 and he was captured at Dunkirk.

My understanding was that he was liberated by the Russians and was one of the last POW’S to be repatriated, however I have found a letter that would indicate that he was in the UK in April 1945.

Would this indicate that he was part of the long march and was liberated by the Americans?

I am the son of the above person who died in 1974

David Broughton
