Harold Keith Brown was attested on 7th June 1945. Training Trentham Military Camp, Egypt, Greece, Crete, where he was captured 2nd June 1941. Transported to Stalag VIIIB from Dulag 183. He worked in a coal mine. He was in Tost Hospital (now known as Toszek) with a broken ankle, where the Russians released them 5pm 22nd January 1945 (source his diary). The Russians were going to shoot him as they thought he was German. He was reported safe in Odessa 27th March 1945. On a shipping list 27th March 1945. At sea 27th March, 4th April, 7th April, at sea (source pay book). 18th April safe UK, 19th April Haine Hospital UK, discharged 1st May 1945. Margate & Westgate UK. Departed UK 30th May 1945. Wellington 3rd July NZ, Home Christchurch New Zealand 4th July 1945. 5 years service to his country.
Other POW camps where he was held: Galatas, Salonika, Dulag 183.
Working Parties he was in either E74 or E174. Worked on farms then Coal mine.
After capture he appears to have been a POW Crete,Tymbakion (Timpaki) Kreigsgefangenen Kreta, held Lager Kretavi Vl. Laboured on the airfield. N.O.K not notified until 2 March 1942 (8months).
