Claude Cyril Burgess
Information provided by John Burgess.
The person we are interested in tracing is my uncle (my father’s brother) who spent around six months in Stalag VIIIB before being repatriated back to Australia on a prisoner exchange programme. For your interest I attach his profile as recorded by the Australian War Memorial (which information is publicly available). The information summarises all his movements over the wartime period. My uncle – Claude Cyril Burgess – was born on the 15 November 1905 in Fremantle, Western Australia.
Whilst I have a reasonable amount of general information about him it would be interesting if any mention of him does occur in your records. As he records that he did work whilst at the Camp I wondered if that might be something concerning work activities. Given the numbers of people involved with Stalag VIIIB it seems unlikely that there would be any mention of him in particular. Thank you for your interest and help.
