My grandad Herbert Burtenshaw, Royal Artillery ,was captured at Dunkirk and spent 1940-45 in Stalag VIIIB/344.

Unfortunately he died last week (March 2009).

He had a dachshund dog while there called Lumpe which means “tramp”. He was also a volunteer at the Firepower Museum at Woolwich until he died.
