I have a name to add to your list of prisoners. It is ERNEST REGINALD CLEMENTS who was my Grandfather.

His POW number was: 10426. His Army number was: 7601661

D.O.B: 13.6.1907 in Bristol.

Enlisted at: Birmingham on 28.7.1939

I am currently researching my family tree and am very interested in any info on the Stalag VIIIB (344) camp and what happened there. I was so pleased to find your site, especially to see images of the camp.

I have just transcribed 58 letters from Ern while he was at the camp. I find it fascinating. I have attached one letter in case you might be interested. It mentions the POW’s watching a play ‘Ghost Train’ put on by boys from the next camp, I was surprised this sort of entertainment was allowed.

Kate Clements.
