Derrick John de Nobriga
POW no. 220792.My father joined the Kings Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC) in 1939 and after training in Scotland he was sent to the Mediterranean as a Commando from Submarines based on Malta. He was captured in August 1941 whilst on a mission at Militello Castello on Sicily and spent two years in Camp 78 Sulmona, Italy, before being sent to Lamsdorf in August 1943.
He left Lamsdorf on the Death March on 22 January 1945 and escaped on 11 April 1945, then met up with the Americans at Kassel and was flown home into RAF Wing on 16 April 1945.

Corporal Robert Young (POW no. 2580827). His name was on the escape document with my father.
