I have come across two letters written to my father by my uncle, Philip Henry Duckworth, when he was a POW. Both are written from Stalag VIIIB, one postmarked 03.12.1941 and the other 18.7.1945.

My uncle was Cpl Philip Henry Duckworth – captured at Calais in 1940. A number ‘gefangenennummer’ shown on both letters is 10381. I have checked the National Archives list, and this appears to be his POW number. Army No. is given as 788657 Royal Armoured Corps.
