He wasn’t part of the long march westwards, but was one of the escapees at the end of the war who spent 10-days in a cattle truck to Odessa, and from there on to a ship to England.
His diary was published as part of a book called “Healers in World War II – Oral histories of Medical Corps Personnel” by Patricia Sewell (ISBN 0-7864-0933-9)
And attached is also a picture of Dad when taken by the Germans, and a photo taken in Torun fort XXA with the other POWs.
