Lorne Angus Frame
My father Lorne Angus Frame was captured at Dieppe.
Dieppe POWs at Stalag VIIIB were seriously mistreated. Below (on the 6 pages following) is a War Claims Commission claim that was completed by him and processed in 1954. This paperwork found in old estate paperwork. He never spoke of his war experience to family. He mentions a W.L. Newman and Sutherland escaping a box car transport and retaliation to others on board. He also mentions a Private Aitken being left on the roadside during the forced march he was exposed to.
In his forced march there were only 28 survivors and 18 had TB when repatriated. He was almost killed by friendly fire after escaping in the last days of his war.
If any others have info on Dieppe Cameron Highlander POWs I would be interested in learning more.
Great web site you are putting together.
Lest we forget.
