The father of David Friend was a POW at Lamsdorf. We have just obtained his service records from the Army Personnel Centre.

Stalag VIIIB / Stalag 344 E134 – I think E134 is a working party?

Stanley never really spoke of his war experiences or his imprisonment. From his regiment and the dates 22-25 May 1940 I believe he was at the Siege of Calais. He told Dave he was in a Tower shooting with a friend who was killed by a sniper; he was shooting a bren gun.

We do know that Stanley was on the Death March and repatriated in April 1945 (by the Americans?)

Sadly, he died in 1981.
