Subject: Pvt. Kyran Gilbert, USA, “D” Co., 504th PIR

 Kyran ‘Buddy’ Gilbert

My Uncle “Buddy” was captured around Jan. 28, 1944, outside of Borgo Piave, Italy.  Wounded, he was thrown into a boxcar and taken to Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf.   He said on the march west that guards were killed for whatever food they may have carried.
