Subject: POW Work Party Information

My father – John Goodfellow Glenday (Pte 186256 RASC) was held at Lamsdorf after being captured during the fall of Crete and then transferred to a work party. 

He appears in a group photograph printed in the SS Ceramic diaries. I’ve attached two photographs, one of which was obviously taken at the work camp and the other sent to him in Lamsdorf. 

The working party photograph has a short poem in his hand which mentions ‘Herr Knappek’ whom my father would sometimes mention as running the camp. I misread the poem as ‘Holy Partee’ until my (German) wife pointed out it read ‘Holz Partee). My father is standing, second from the left.
