Subject: POW List of Names – new details

I am researching my father’s army life and history – he was very closed about his experiences as a POW and until these records recently became available I had no idea and its not surprising since this seems to have been one of the worst camps.

Anyway please add the following information regarding my dad since he needs to be recognized and recorded in the list of names.

LEONARD NELSON ROEBUCK GRAY  – Private

POW No 16117

of WORKSOP, Nottinghamshire

Service No 4974576  – Durham Light Infantry at the time of capture (I have not yet found out where he was when captured). He was previously in the Sherwood and Worcester Foresters which might explain why he was in this camp.

I don’t have much memorabilia (my mum went into melt down when he died and burnt a lot of things he had kept) but do have a few photographs taken in the camp and some of other POW’s – some names but sadly only a few.
