Greenaway, R J
Private Robert John Greenaway
I have learned that my Great-Uncle was apparently a resident in Stalag VIIIB/Lamsdorf. According to family history, he was interred there and then took part in the death marches. He returned to Canada and died in Hamilton, Ontario after succumbing to spinal meningitis contracted during his time in Europe. His information is as follows:
Robert John Greenaway – D. January 23, 1946, age 25, Private
Royal Hamilton Light Infantry – B/37063
Captured at Dieppe (Dieppe raid August 19, 1942) and taken to Stalag VIIIB (aka Stalag 344) Lamsdorf, Poland
