Tony was captured on Crete as part of 50 Commando rear guard action covering the withdrawal of the main body of allied forces from Sphakia
Tony was wounded in this action and when captured had a gun shot wound to the knee. Because of his injuries he was taken to hospital in Piraeus in Greece and then on to a prison camp in Saloníki Greece.
On the 22/08/1941 he was transferred to Stalag VlllB Lamsdorf.
During his time in Lamsdorf he was chained and tortured for a period because of his Italian name.
He was spent time in E220, E225 & E355 Working Parties.
On 15/01/1945 he was transferred to Konstanz, Germany as unfit for service.
He was then a repatriated POW and disembarked to the UK 01/02/1945. He was then medically discharged from any form of Military Service on the 22/09/1945
