Other Sources (Family correspondence)While on the long march, Conroy was given a log book by George H. Gidney, which he kept when the men became separated and kept untill he died. In 2009, with the help of the Red Cross, Conroy’s daughter Maureen Manningham managed to locate Gidney’s family and reunite Gidney’s daughter, Marilyn Buttery, with her father’s logbook.
