My uncle, Harold Kirkby, was captured at Dunkirk and was sent to Lamsdorf, he did not survive the long march near the end of the war. He was with the Oxford & Buckinghamshire Regiment. He was killed, according to family stories, when on a forced march at the end of the war. Apparently the line of POWs was the target of a daytime US raid, perhaps mistaken for a German column.
Anyway, Harold, Private 6018695 in the Oxford and Bucks, was killed on 16 April 1945 aged 27
