Knight, A E
Albert Ernest Knight
My father, Albert Ernest Knight of the NZEF became a prisoner of war at Stalag 344 on 5-1-1944 and was transferred to Stalag VIIIB on 9-11 1944. He went on the march across Czechoslovakia into Germany.
I have a small notebook with names of towns that they went through. He also escaped on the march with 2 or 3 others but was recaptured 3 days later. It was interesting to find out a bit more about the camp and the march.
Before he was transferred to Stalag 344, he was in the Italian campo PG 57 from 8-3 1942. I have found out a little about that camp too and it has been interesting doing this research.
Thank you for the interesting articles and stories.
