Flight Sergeant James-Roy Lee

James was thrown out of the bomber, Lancaster ED998 on the 15/16th August 1943 after it was attacked by a Focke-Wulf 190. He was thrown clear when the plane exploded.
He landed on a haystack and survived, but was seriously burnt and had to be treated in hospital near to or in Chartres. After two weeks in hospital he was sent to Stalag1VB. He returned to England in 1945.

[Editors note: There are 2 German record cards for James-Roy held at the National Archives (London) each contains a different year of birth: 1917 and 1923. The relevant Civil Register shows 1923 as his DoB.]
