Marriott, A
Sapper Arthur Marriott
Arthur Marriott was a prisoner in Stalag VIIIB during ww2. He was part of the B.E.F and was captured on the beaches of Dunkirk. During 1945 he was part of the march, he was shot dead by a German guard whilst picking potatoes to eat, presumably he was starving. Initially buried in a small village by locals his body was eventually transferred to Prague war cemetery, we visited his grave earlier this year.
I have all the letters he sent to his mother (my late grandma) during his 5 years of captivity.
Peter
