My favourite uncle, Charles Morris Muir (known as Biff), was in Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf. He died in 1979 aged 58 in Dundee, Scotland. His details also appear in “Footprints on the Sands of Time” by Oliver Clutton-Brock page 367.
He was married to my mother’s sister (Dorothy Redfern). After the war they married and settled in Dundee, Scotland, Charles’ home town. They had two sons, Roger and Martin (both now deceased).

Camp Location: LamsdorfCharles escaped twice from POW camp; the first time he evaded recapture for two days, but the second time he was at large for two weeks before being caught and returned to the camp. He told his son of the Long Walk across Germany which began in January 1945 when the Stalag was evacuated.
