My Great Grandfather was shot in the head in Crete, taken to a German hospital when they tended to his wounds and was then sent on to Stalag VIIIB. His name was Lauris Newfield (Bat Man Driver) 2NZEF: 1st Echelon.

During his time in Stalag VIIIB he and several others sabotaged the power in the camp and they were caught. They were sent to a prison in Prussia before he was repatriated in 1944.

Would love to find out as much as I can about his time in the camp but I of course understand that is far from easy.

Hope this information helps.

Regards,

Terry
