Parker, B W
Basil Thomas Parker
Basil Thomas Parker (maybe known as Tom), served with the Royal Armoured Corps and was captured in Crete in April 1941. His comrades had to leave him after he was shot through the leg – he was then captured and taken to Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf. He told family members that he was liberated by Russian tank women in 1945 at the end of the war. He, understandably, wouldn’t speak much about his wartime experiences.
He was ‘Mentioned in Dispatches’ Like most former POWs he did not talk much about his experiences, it was a time he wanted to forget. He died at age 87
