My uncle Charlie Richard Phillips, POW number 16253 (3998). He rarely spoke about this time and when he did it was extremely sketchy. He was with the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) as a Royal Engineer. Like so many others he was captured at Dunkirk and spent the remainder of the war at Lamsdorf (Stalag VIIIB and later at Stalag 383). His imprisonment wrecked his eyesight. He passed away 31st July 1985, aged 69.
