Private George Joseph Pidgeon

Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2014My father, former Private George Joseph Pidgeon
21508 HQ 21st Battalion N.Z.E.F., was taken prisoner in Greece in 1941, transported and marched to Stalag VIIIB Lamsdorf until released by American forces 1945. Then transported to UK for urgent medical treatment.
My mother had been sent a missing in action letter, and later two Red Cross cards arrived giving his whereabouts. He has written in back of his papers of his capture and subsequent march. He did not talk a lot about the horrors that were suffered there. He passed away 1999 in Australia. I have photos and papers that I can photocopy and send on if you are interested.
