My Granddad, William George Prior was a POW at Stalag 344 during WWII. POW number 10727 Army Number 908373. I am not sure of the exact dates that he was at the camp, but I know that he was part of the Death March. From what my family have told me I understand that my Grandad worked in, and at one point, ran the clothing repair shop making and fixing clothes for other POW. He had a piece of land outside of his workshop where he grew some vegetables. There were a number of other men who worked in the repair shop with him. I also understand that Grandad was involved in setting up a Music Hall where he and other POWs played instruments. Grandad played the Mandolin and the Guitar.

Grandad died earlier this year and I am trying to trace down as much about his life as possible.
