John Frederick Pritchard
I am the above’s son-in-law married to his daughter.
I was looking through your website and could not find any reference to the above who was captured at Dunkirk before the Royal West Kent’s were evacuated.
I deduced he was a PoW at Lamsdorf 344 because we found a wooden cigarette case memento amongst his personal belongings when clearing their house for sale. It appears to be handmade but as he was not a handyman, he probably got from a fellow PoW.
The reason I am writing to you it that I have found him listed in Camp 344 in the British Army Archives held by the National Archive I believe.
I am surprised that he is not listed as a contributor to the Clarion as he was a man of letters and languages.
I understand that as he was a fluent German speaker, he acted in a liaison role with the prison authorities, but this is only hearsay.
I also have seen that he was mentioned in dispatches in 1946 but as yet have not found the relevant edition of the London Gazette in which it would have been published.
I wondered if you were aware of his details.
