Randall, J M
Gunner Joseph Michael Randall
From Dellwyn Collins. 17/12/2024
Surname at birth ‘Cianfarano’. Became a naturalised British citizen and surname changed to Randall.
My stepfather had a diary and drawings of his time as a POW from September 1939 until May 1945. The diary totals approx 388 pages, from time spent in a POW camp in Italy to his release from a POW camp in Germany in 1945. There are drawings included. The original diary is held in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra. I think Joe emigrated to Australia sometime in the 1950’s. I have a copy of the diary. The original was donated in 1980, before my mother Ruth, met and married Joe.
I found a copy of Joe’s diary after my mother passed away in April, 2022. She had apparently asked for a copy after Joe passed away. He died of a heart attack 13 days after they married in 1986. I am interested to hear if you want the diary and papers from Joe’s military time during the Second World War. I would like to return the copy of the diary I have back to British soil where he enlisted and fought for Britain.
[Editors note the German record card at TNA has the name Cianfarano]
