Information provided by Stuart Scott:

Arrived at Stalag VIIA on 07/07/1941. Transferred from Stalag VIIA on 14/04/1943 to Stalag VIIIB (later renamed Stalag 344). Arrived at Stalag VIIIB in Silesia (Poland) on 17/04/1943

During his time at this camp he worked as a miner and conditions generally were very bad.

On the 22nd of January 1945 the camp was disbanded and the prisoners marched several hundred miles in freezing conditions back into Germany on what became known as the “Lamsdorf Death March”.

He arrived at Stalag XIIIC in Bavaria on 13/03/1945 from where he was liberated by Combat Command B of the U.S. 14th Armored Division on 06/04/1945.

My Father never talked about his experiences but, reading about the terrible conditions in Stalag 344 and the Death March I can now understand why.
