My grandfather was gunner Bernard Shore, 25th field regiment royal artillery, service number 1103897 and was captured at Cyrenaica ( Tobruk) on casualty list 901 as missing 20/06/42 . Then turned up as pow in camp 78 , Sulmona until 1943 then sent to Teschen, Stalag VIIIB pow number 220326 which was under 344 lamsdorf . He survived the long march and arrived in UK after walking to Calais. He died in 1982 of ill health and I’ve been told he never got over his ordeals in the camps.
