Elmer is the uncle of Diana (Innocent) Glass from Stettler, Alberta. He was born May 13, 1922 and passed away June 20, 1948 at 26 years old after he drowned in Buffalo Lake, Rochon Sands north of Stettler. He is buried beside his mother and father at Lake View Cemetery, Stettler, Alberta.
His mother was Bessie Morilla Taylor (1891 – 1975) and father William Thomas Taylor (1890 – 1955). Elmer’s father, William Thomas Taylor fought in WW1 (Reg. N. 2115322) and was ranked as a Driver.
We believe Elmer was a radio operator in Churchill Tank ‘Brenda’ T68760R Troop No. 7 of B Squadron of the 14th Canadian Army Tank Regiment (Calgary Regiment). He was ranked as ‘Trooper M26888’. It appears that Elmer was in a work camp for farm in Stargard from Feb. 5, 1944 until Nov. 28, 1944. His POW No. is 26152.
Diana Glass is the eldest daughter of Ralph and Edith (Taylor) Innocent from Stettler, Alberta. Edith is the youngest sister of Elmer Taylor.
Elmer’s sergeant, in tank Brenda, was William (Bill) Olive from Big Valley Alberta, Canada.
Tank Brenda was a Churchill MK 111 tank from Canadian Army Regiment, Calgary Regiment, Alberta, Canada Tank NO. T68760R Also No. 7 Troop of B Squadron.
