Wilkins, L
Private Leonard Wilkins
While browsing the web I decided to have another look at the Stalag VIIIB site once again for the first time in over 3 years and when checking the list of names I came across the surname WILKINS.
I can confirm that one definite connection to that name is my late father PTE Leonard Wilkins, Loyal North Lancashire Fusiliers (The Loyals) No3 Army Commando captured at Bernival north of Dieppe on 19th August 1942 (the Dieppe raid). My father died in August 1985, 2 weeks before his 65th birthday. Like all the rest he was part of the Long March until repatriated by Patton’s 3rd Army and flown home in the belly of a Lancaster Bomber.
