Jessie Arthur W Wraight
I came across your site whilst researching a distant relative on Ancestry.
You do not have him listed and thought you would like to include him.
His records are seen on forces-war-records.
He was Private Jessie Arthur W Wraight of The Queen’s Own (Royal Kent Regiment) 1st Battalion, Service number 6341222.
He is listed as missing on 22 May 1940, captured in France. There is an incident date of 24 Jul 1940, though I am not clear what this refers to. I think he must have been captured then as in June 1940 his Battalion were evacuated from Dunkirk. He is listed as now Not Prisoner of War on 8 Aug 1945, the camp having been liberated in March 1945 by the Russians. Do you think this means he was included on the ‘death marches’? Jessie was born 24 Apr 1911 in Malling kent. He left a young wife, Audrey and baby daughter when he went to war. But you will no doubt be delighted to hear on his return he had 3 more children and died age 79 in 1990.
