Radoje Zizovic
Information provided by Miodrag Zizovic:
Radoje Zizovic
Camp PG 75 and 62
Surname :Zizovic
Forename : Radoje
Nationality : Yugoslav
Where captured : YugoslaviaMy grandfather was near to finish of Yugoslav Royal war academy (2 months to graduate) in air force at position of bomber navigator. He surrendered when Yugoslavia capitulated at airport in Niksic (present Montenegro). As far as I know he was moved through Albania and then shipped to Bari, from where he was moved to permanent camp residence somewhere near Bergamo. From some accounts it was camp only for officers.
After Italy capitulated he served with Italian Partisans till they made big action of blowing up some airport installations, for which Germans made big efforts to retaliate, and so his unit disbanded and he tried to cross to Switzerland where he was captured by Germans. Germans got him to court and convicted him for not surrendering on capitulation on prison sentence of 5 years. As war progressed he was moved from one location to another – but mostly France and Germany, till they imprisoned him at Munich, where he was liberated by US Army.
I only have some pictures of him when he was at academy – no war pictures.
